room2 London Hammersmith Townhouse Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to room2 London Hammersmith Townhouse on Hammersmith Grove, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this smart, contemporary townhouse vibe that feels more like staying at a well-designed friend’s place than a standard hotel. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, the attention to detail makes it punch above its weight. The entrance is understated but polished — you know you’re somewhere thoughtful without any of that over-the-top lobby drama.

The Hammersmith Advantage

Here’s what I love about this spot in Hammersmith — you’re actually in a proper London neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. The Hammersmith & City line is right there, which means you can get to central London in about 15 minutes, but you’re also surrounded by local pubs, cafes, and that authentic London residential feel. Couples seem to really get this balance (the hotel mentions they rate it particularly highly), and I can see why. You’ve got the Thames path literally a few minutes’ walk away, perfect for those morning runs or evening strolls that make you feel like a temporary local.

Smart Design Philosophy

The room design here is what sets this place apart — everything feels intentional without being fussy. The tech integration is actually useful rather than gimmicky, and the space is laid out in a way that makes even the smaller rooms feel functional. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create spaces that work whether you’re here for business or leisure. The lighting is spot-on (you can actually read comfortably), and there’s enough surface space for your stuff without cluttering the aesthetic.

Neighborhood Dining Scene

While the hotel has its own restaurant, I’d actually recommend exploring the area a bit. Hammersmith has this great mix of gastropubs and international spots that you won’t find in the guidebooks. The Dove pub down by the river is historic and atmospheric, and there’s a fantastic Lebanese place called Maroush just up the road. That said, when you do want to stay in, the hotel’s food program is solid — they clearly understand that travelers want quality without pretension.

Why Guests Love It

The location feedback really tells the story here — recent guests consistently highlight how well-positioned this place is, and I think it comes down to that sweet spot between accessibility and authenticity. You’re not paying central London prices, but you’re not sacrificing convenience either. The staff seems to genuinely know the area and can point you toward things you wouldn’t discover on your own. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone — they’ve figured out their niche and executed it really well. The parking situation is also surprisingly manageable for London, which anyone who’s driven here will appreciate.

To book hotel in London for festive lights, travelers reserve West End suites glowing above cobbled lanes.

  • Suzanne from United Kingdom (8/10)

I needed a place close to my daughter’s apartment and this was just down the road.

  • Ketrina from United States (8/10)

I’ve stayed at this property twice before and had wonderful experiences each time, which is why I was happy to book again.

Unfortunately, during my most recent stay, I left a pair of boots behind in the room. I contacted the property almost immediately to report the issue and asked if they could hold the item for me, as I was planning to return soon and I booked another stay.

Despite sending multiple messages and emails over several days, I did not receive any response. Ultimately, I felt compelled to cancel my upcoming reservation due to this lack of communication.

I hope the property can improve their responsiveness in the future, as this would greatly enhance the guest experience.

  • Padraig from Ireland (9/10)

Nicely appointed boutique hotel. Rooms are small but efficient with kitchenettes and comfortable beds. There is also a laundry room on site.
