Sonder Kensington Gardens Overview
First Impressions
Sonder Kensington Gardens sits on one of those gorgeous white-stucco terraces that makes London feel so distinctly… well, London. I mean, you’re literally looking out at Prince of Wales Terrace — and honestly, the location alone makes this three-star property punch above its weight. The building itself has that classic Victorian elegance, though inside it’s been given a thoroughly modern makeover that actually works really well.
The Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re in Kensington, which means you can walk to Hyde Park in about two minutes (I timed it), and Kensington Gardens is basically your backyard. The Royal Albert Hall is a pleasant stroll away, and if you’re into museums, the V&A and Natural History Museum are close enough that you could easily pop over between other activities. You know what’s great though? Despite being so central, Prince of Wales Terrace itself is surprisingly quiet — especially compared to the chaos around South Ken tube station.
The Space
The room I stayed in was what Sonder calls an apartment, and it really did feel more like a temporary flat than a hotel room. There’s a proper kitchen with everything you’d actually need — not just a sad mini-fridge and kettle situation. The design is clean and contemporary, lots of whites and grays with some nice touches that keep it from feeling sterile. Honestly, the space felt bigger than I expected, and the windows let in loads of natural light during the day.
What Makes It Work
This isn’t your traditional hotel experience — there’s no front desk or concierge hovering around, which some people love and others find a bit odd. Everything’s handled through the app, from check-in to getting help with issues. I’ll be honest, it took me a minute to get used to it, but once you do, there’s something quite liberating about just coming and going as you please. The building feels secure, and the whole setup works well if you’re the type who prefers independence over hand-holding.
Why Guests Love It
The location feedback really doesn’t lie — couples do seem to gravitate toward this place, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own little London pied-à-terre, even if it’s just for a few nights. You can grab groceries from the Waitrose down the road, cook breakfast while looking out at those beautiful Georgian buildings, then spend the day exploring some of London’s best neighborhoods. The fact that recent guests consistently rate the location so highly tells you everything — when you’re this close to Hyde Park, the museums, and proper London life, you really can’t go wrong. Plus, there’s parking available, which in this part of London is practically a miracle.

I booked two bedrooms, one for myself (single room) and one double for my friends. The bathroom of the single room was an extremely small, specially the bath area. It was small compared to “European standards “.
Overall the hotel was good, they have a nice breakfast and clean facilities.
I would like them to add an option to house keeping for more the 4 days for examples. We stayed 7 days.
I would stay again but in the double bedroom .Patricia from Canada (7/10)
Conveniently located, quiet, clean, comfortable and has a very good continental breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available at all times. Very friendly and attentive staff.
