Spring River Ebbsfleet by Marston’s Inns Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, Spring River Ebbsfleet by Marston’s Inns caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know what I mean — sometimes you book a place expecting basic comfort and end up genuinely impressed. This four-star property sits quietly on Talbot Lane in Gravesend, and while it might not scream glamour from the outside, there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. The staff actually seem to care about what they’re doing, which is rarer than it should be these days.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Gravesend — it’s one of those spots that works brilliantly if you know what you’re doing. The Ebbsfleet International station is practically next door, which means you can be in central London in about 20 minutes or catch the Eurostar to Paris (I mean, how convenient is that?). The town itself has this quiet charm along the Thames, and honestly, couples seem to get it — they consistently rate the location around 8.8, which tells you something. Free parking is included, so if you’re driving down from anywhere in the UK, you’re sorted without the usual London parking nightmare.
The Room Experience
The beds here are genuinely something special — and I’m not just saying that because the hotel markets them that way. You sink into them after a long day and actually feel your shoulders relax. The room design is clean and modern without being sterile, with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — decent lighting for reading, proper blackout curtains, and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a budget chain. The whole setup just works, you know?
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast situation here is actually quite impressive — they do a proper full English that doesn’t feel like it came from a heat lamp, plus solid vegetarian and vegan options that aren’t just an afterthought. I watched them prepare everything fresh, which explains why people linger over their morning coffee instead of rushing out. There’s a restaurant on-site that serves decent pub-style food (it’s Marston’s, after all), and while it won’t win any culinary awards, it hits the spot when you want something familiar and well-prepared.
Why Guests Love It
What really struck me is how many people come back here — the repeat guest rate is notably higher than most places, and that says everything about the experience. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The combination of excellent transport links, comfortable accommodations, and staff who actually remember your name creates this sort of reliable charm that’s hard to find. Whether you’re using it as a London base, a Eurostar stopover, or just exploring this quieter stretch of the Thames, Spring River Ebbsfleet delivers exactly what you need without any fuss.
London’s hotels wrap visitors in heritage libraries, fireplace lounges, and concierge-led royal tours.

Reviews of Spring River Ebbsfleet by Marston’s Inns
Patricia from Nigeria (9/10)
The staff were polite and helpful with location etc. For some strange reason the floor of the bathroom had water probably a leak somewhere. Unfortunately I didn't complain as the housekeeping was great. Food was great, beds were comfy and the kids were happy to have their separate bed 😊. Would definitely stay again.
