The Angerstein Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Angerstein Hotel on Woolwich Road, you know what struck me first? It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. This three-star Georgian townhouse has this honest, welcoming vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The building itself has character — you can tell it’s been here for ages, watching over this corner of Greenwich as the neighborhood evolved around it. From the moment you step through the door, there’s a sense of authenticity that modern chain hotels simply cannot replicate.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about staying here — you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory, but you’re not paying tourist-trap prices for the privilege. I mean, couples absolutely love this spot (they rate it 8.9, which honestly makes sense), and I get why. You can stroll down to the Thames Path for those riverside walks, hit up Greenwich Market for weekend browsing, or just wander through the village-y streets that feel worlds away from central London chaos. The train connections are solid too — you’ll be in London Bridge in about fifteen minutes when you need that city fix. The location truly offers the best of both worlds for travelers seeking authentic London experiences.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from a well-maintained Georgian conversion — not huge, but thoughtfully laid out with everything you actually need. The bed was comfortable (no complaints there), and the bathroom, while compact, had decent water pressure. What I appreciated was the attention to small details — proper bedside lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually open for fresh air. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuinely comfortable and practical for a short or extended stay.
Neighborhood Vibes
This part of Greenwich feels refreshingly real compared to the more touristy bits closer to the Cutty Sark. You’ve got proper local pubs within walking distance — The Richard I is just down the road and serves excellent Sunday roasts. There’s also a Tesco Express nearby for those inevitable snack runs, and honestly, just wandering these residential streets gives you a feel for how Londoners actually live. The area feels safe even in the evenings, which matters when you’re exploring on foot. You’ll discover independent shops and cafes that locals genuinely frequent.
Why Guests Love It
Look, The Angerstein Hotel isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or fancy amenities, but that’s sort of the point. Recent guests consistently rate the location highly (8.6 out of 10), and after staying here, I totally understand why. You’re getting genuine value — a clean, comfortable base in one of London’s most charming areas without the premium you’d pay closer to central attractions. The staff actually seem to care about your stay rather than just going through the motions, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the basics really well instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
To book hotel in London for festive lights, travelers reserve West End suites glowing above cobbled lanes.

Affordable hotel near the O2 Arena which was what we were in London for. Beds were comfortable and clean and just what we needed for a short stay. I appreciated that they provided a room for three people, as I was travelling with two of my friends and we didn't want to get split up. The staff member we spoke to upon checking in was very friendly and welcoming, and let us know about some things to do during our stay in London.
Tony from United Kingdom (8/10)
The price was good for the location and handy for the 02 Dome which was a short taxi ride away or a 30 minute walk if you so fancied. Staff were very friendly and the room was basic but comfortable and had wifi. Bonus of the pub being downstairs which has been beautifully renovated.
Saša from Slovenia (8/10)
The bedroom was clean and the beds were cosy. There is a bar downstairs.
