Couples seem to absolutely adore it here (they rate the location 9.8, which is basically unheard of), and I get why. You’re close enough to dive into the chaos of London, but Portland Place itself has this calm, tree-lined feel that gives you a breather when you need it.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was spacious by London standards — and trust me, that means something in this city. What really stood out though were the beds. I mean, I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, but these beds are something special. They’re not just comfortable, they’re the kind where you actually sleep through the night despite being in one of the world’s busiest cities. The windows are properly soundproofed, and the linens feel expensive without being fussy. Little touches like the marble bathroom and those perfectly dimmed bedside lights show they’ve thought about what travelers actually need.

The breakfast spread here is honestly impressive — they’ve got everything from a proper full English to continental options, plus they actually do vegetarian and vegan choices well (not just as an afterthought). The restaurant has this classic British feel, but the food is modern and well-executed. What surprised me was how many guests I chatted with were repeat visitors — apparently this place has more returning guests than most hotels, and after staying here, I totally understand why.
