The 29 London Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The 29 London on Saint Georges Drive, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. It’s tucked into a classic Victorian terrace building that feels authentically London — you know, the kind of place where you actually feel like you’re staying in the city rather than some generic box that could be anywhere. The entrance is understated but welcoming, and honestly, that’s exactly what I was hoping for in a three-star property that doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re in Westminster Borough, which means you’re properly central without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Covent Garden or Oxford Street. Saint Georges Drive sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to Victoria Station in about ten minutes (seriously useful for airport connections), but you’re also close enough to Pimlico’s quieter streets when you need a breather. The couples rating of 8.9 for location makes total sense — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets, and you’re still just a short tube ride from the South Bank or Westminster Abbey.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re not getting massive spaces here, but everything feels purposeful rather than cramped. The Victorian building means you get those lovely high ceilings and original features that give the space character, something you definitely don’t find in newer hotels. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom, while small, had good water pressure (which honestly matters more than you’d think after a long day walking around London).
Neighborhood Discoveries
What really won me over was how the hotel sits in this residential pocket that feels genuinely local. There’s a proper pub just around the corner — The Plumbers Arms — where you’ll find more locals than tourists, and the little Tesco Express nearby is perfect for grabbing snacks or breakfast bits if you want to save a few pounds. The tree-lined streets around here are perfect for morning walks, and you’re close enough to the Thames Path that you can easily stroll along the river when the weather’s decent.
Why Guests Love It
Look, The 29 London isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You get that authentic London experience — staying in a real Victorian building, in a proper residential area, with easy access to everything you actually want to see. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s solid, reliable, and unpretentious. For the price point, you’re getting genuine character and an excellent location (that 9.0 location score isn’t just marketing speak). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in London for a few days rather than just visiting it.

Reviews of The 29 London
Anton from France (9/10)
Everything was in absolute accordance with description, cosy room on the top floor (not a big deal if you’re not a grumpy guy or girl of certain ages). Staff was excellent, location is unbelievable (20 mins walk in wonderful Westminster to BigBen, can you imagine???) , and if you add the price for the room to all of it – the stay was 10/10!
I’ll come back, thank you 🫶🏻Beata from United Kingdom (6/10)

I loved staying at The 29 for three nights. It is a really lovely, simple hotel in central London. The staff were fab, so helpful and friendly. I had a small attic room and it was perfect for me. There was plenty of storage, tea and coffee facilities and just enough space, it was great 😊

Wonderful location, within 10 min of both Victoria Coach Station and Underground. There’s also local supermarkets in the vicinity. The room was exceptionally clean and bath and face towels are provided, as well as hairdryer/. Instant coffee, tea bags and a kettle can also be found. All staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful!

My room was tiny but kind of made it easy to access everything. My bed next to a window was nice, the daily room service was welcomed, and to have a switch to turn off all lights while in bed was one of my favorite things 😄
