The Shoreditch Inn Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Shoreditch Inn on Austin Street, you immediately get that authentic East London vibe — it’s tucked into one of those characterful Victorian buildings that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely current. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually found refreshing after staying at places that promise the world and deliver corporate blandness. The entrance is understated but welcoming, and you can tell right away that this isn’t your typical chain hotel experience.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is probably the biggest selling point here — and the 8.8 location score backs that up completely. You’re right in the heart of Shoreditch, which means you can walk to Brick Lane for curry, hit up the vintage shops on Cheshire Street, or catch a show at one of the many venues nearby. The Old Street tube station is close enough that getting into central London is no hassle at all, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore the creative side of the city that tourists often miss. I mean, where else can you grab artisanal coffee in the morning and stumble into a underground art gallery by afternoon?
The Room
The room itself strikes a nice balance between comfort and character — nothing fancy, but everything you need for a solid night’s sleep. The beds are actually quite comfortable (I was pleasantly surprised), and while the space isn’t huge, it’s thoughtfully laid out so you don’t feel cramped. What I appreciated most was how clean everything was and the fact that the Wi-Fi actually worked properly throughout my stay. The windows let in decent natural light, and you get glimpses of the neighborhood’s rooftops and street life below, which adds to that authentic London feeling.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here is honestly better than I expected for a three-star place. They’ve got the full English option if you want to start your day properly, but there’s also continental choices and vegetarian alternatives that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant area has a relaxed atmosphere where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. I found myself lingering over coffee more than once, watching the neighborhood wake up through the windows — it’s that kind of place where you don’t mind taking your time.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it captures the spirit of Shoreditch without the pretension. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to the neighborhood rather than dropped into it. The staff seem to genuinely know the area and can point you toward things you wouldn’t find in guidebooks. Plus, couples especially seem to love it here — that 8.8 rating for two-person trips makes sense when you consider how walkable everything is and how many great little spots you can discover together. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing London rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

Spotlessly clean and in a good location to access the City. Breakfast was included and was very tasty with fresh croissants a boiled egg and yoghurt – quirky but nice . Also a good TV in the room with access to BBC player.
