West Hampstead has this lovely residential feel where locals grab coffee and do their shopping, yet you can hop on the Jubilee line and be in central London in about 20 minutes. The Thameslink station is practically around the corner too, which makes getting to airports surprisingly painless. Couples seem to really get this area (they rate the location 8.7, and I can see why) — there are proper pubs within walking distance, decent restaurants that aren’t tourist traps, and you know what? Sometimes it’s nice to feel like you’re staying somewhere real Londoners actually live.

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than what you’d get in an American hotel, but that’s London for you. What impressed me was how thoughtfully everything was arranged — they’ve made good use of every inch without making it feel cramped. The bed was actually comfortable (not a given in this price range), and the bathroom, while compact, had decent water pressure. The windows face the street, so there’s some traffic noise, but nothing that kept me awake. I mean, if you want complete silence, you probably shouldn’t be staying in zone 2 anyway.

Practical Matters

The Wi-Fi works properly throughout the building — I tested it because hotel internet can be hit or miss. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing given how many good eating options are within a few minutes’ walk. West End Lane has everything from proper fish and chips to that little Lebanese place that locals seem to love. Parking isn’t included, but this is London — you probably don’t want to drive here anyway. The Tube and bus connections make a car more trouble than it’s worth.

You’re getting a clean, well-located base for exploring London at a price that won’t make you wince.   Perfect room for a weekend with friends. Excellent location, close to the metro and train stations, with many restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Keep in mind that the room for four people is on the 4th floor without an elevator. Highly recommended for a weekend in London!
