The Room Experience

My room was on the third floor — no lift, just so you know — but it had this lovely bay window that looked out onto the tree-lined street. The space itself was compact but thoughtfully arranged, with a decent-sized bed and a small desk that actually worked for getting some writing done. The bathroom was recently updated (you can tell because the tiles don’t have that slightly yellowed grout you see in older London hotels), and the shower had proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in this part of town.

Practical Considerations

The staff here are genuinely helpful — not in that overly polished way, but more like they actually want to help you figure out the best route to wherever you’re going. There’s no restaurant on-site, but given the neighborhood you’re in, that’s hardly a problem. Earl’s Court Road is a five-minute walk and has everything from Lebanese takeaway to proper gastropubs. The hotel does serve a continental breakfast in a small dining area that feels more like someone’s conservatory, which I found rather endearing. The location truly makes this property special.

What really works about the Westbury is that it gets the fundamentals right without any fuss. The beds are comfortable, the heating actually works (crucial in London), and you’re staying in one of the city’s most desirable postcodes without paying Mayfair prices. Couples seem to particularly appreciate the romantic neighborhood setting — I can see why, given all those gorgeous garden squares and the fact that you can walk to Hyde Park in ten minutes. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense. This hotel truly captures the essence of authentic London hospitality.

  The room was very good, not the largest, but you could easily store luggage for two people. The bed was very comfortable and there were thick and thin pillows to choose from. There were no weird smells, it was well ventilated and not too cold even though we had minus degrees outside. Everything was clean with no dust in places like behind the curtains. Power outlets were next to the bed and they worked with no issues. The staff was very kind and helpful, there was 24h reception and luggage storage was in a room locked with a key. No noise from traffic, even though the room was on the first floor. Overall, would definitely stay here again if I had business in the area.
