Westminster Inn Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Westminster Inn on Fernhead Road, you’d honestly never guess you’re about to step into a five-star luxury experience. The building has this understated elegance that feels refreshingly unpretentious for London — no flashy signage or doormen in ridiculous uniforms. What struck me immediately was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about getting the details right, from the way they handled my luggage to remembering my name within minutes of checking in.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re technically in Westminster Borough, but you’re tucked away from the tourist chaos that usually comes with that address. Maida Vale tube station is literally a five-minute walk, which means you can be at Oxford Circus in about fifteen minutes without dealing with the crowds right outside your door. The street itself has this lovely residential feel, with proper London terraced houses and local cafes where you’ll actually hear more British accents than American ones. I mean, there’s something to be said for being able to grab a decent coffee and croissant without fighting through selfie sticks, you know?

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what luxury should actually feel like — thoughtful rather than showy. The bed was ridiculously comfortable (I’m talking about that perfect firmness that doesn’t leave you aching), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting — there were enough different options that I could actually read comfortably in the evening without feeling like I was in an operating theater. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep in London.

Dining and Amenities

The restaurant downstairs serves what I’d call elevated comfort food — nothing too fancy, but everything done really well. Their breakfast is particularly solid, with proper British options alongside lighter continental choices. I was pleasantly surprised by their spa facilities, which manage to feel spacious despite the building’s compact footprint. The treatment rooms are quiet and well-appointed, and honestly, after walking around London all day, their deep tissue massage was exactly what I needed. There’s also secure parking available, which is practically gold dust in this part of the city.

Why Guests Love It

What makes this place special is how it balances luxury with livability — you get the high-end amenities and service you’d expect from a five-star property, but without the stuffiness that can make you feel like you’re walking on eggshells. The location really is brilliant for couples (which explains why so many rate it highly for romantic trips) — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the madness to actually relax. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper London experience without feeling like you’re constantly fighting the city.

  • Apostolos from Greece (8/10)

The place was clean, with a heater and dehumidifier, and the price was great.

  • Alejandra from Canada (8/10)

Loved having a separate bedroom. Overall very clean and comfortable – all supplies provided for us which worked great since we were coming from another country. Soft and clean bedding. Instructions and communications were clear and no issues.

  • Kumbirayi from United Kingdom (7/10)

It said that Wi-Fi would be free but nowhere did it say how to get the Wi-Fi.
    Very disappointing this.

  • Cee from United Kingdom (8/10)

Very tidy and close to bus stops and places to eat and shop and also close to city centre.

  • Emil from Austria (9/10)

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Reading the other reviews, I cannot quite understand the comments about the area. We felt completely fine, even when coming home after 11pm on a Saturday night. Yes, there are some interesting looking people around the streets here and there, but at no time did we ever feel seriously uncomfortable- even with small children.
Just opposite of the apartment there is a playground for those who might appreciate that. We also enjoyed the restaurants close by and the couple of minutes walk to Queens Station, where there is also a supermarket. (Small market to be found just a couple of houses from the apartment as well).
Quite a few reviews complained about the apartment being too bright in the morning- something I was a bit anxious about with our kids as well, but turns out as promised (in the accommodation responses), the owners already took care of it- we had wonderful window shade that barely let any light through! Communication and instructions worked perfectly ahead of time. Also, they were so thoughtful asking before our arrival if we would need a travel size baby cot, which we really appreciated.

It matches what is advertised. Clean. Small, but well equipped, ideal for 3 people staying in London for a few days or a week. Emma is helpful, routine, kind. Contactless check-in/out is easy and smooth. It is further away from the center, but due to the excellent bus transport and the proximity of the Metro, everything is easily accessible (exit the hotel entrance, turn right). All kinds of shops can be found within a 5-10 minute walking distance (exit the hotel entrance, turn left, go to the end of the street). Restaurant entertainment venue next door, but quiet in the evening. The people in the neighborhood are nice, smile, and everyone is helpful. Information only: the entrance is narrow, the stairs are high, it may be more difficult for people with large suitcases or those with mobility impairments. If we come to London again, we will gladly return here. 😀

  • Megan from Sweden (9/10)

The staff were friendly and responsive. Location is really good (short train ride to Wembley stadium and tubes into central London, easy to access buses in different directions). Easy check in and out process. Very clean and comfortable room with all the listed facilities. Nice shower, great AC. Good place to stay with a friend or partner. Would stay there again.

  • Ayushman from India (9/10)

Location was quite central with queen's park station and westbourne station on wither sides. In 20 minutes you can be in centre of London. The place had couple of lebanese food and off license grocery store. The M&S Food store was very close to queen's park which helped to grab and go for the tube rides.
