The BBC’s headquarters is practically around the corner, and there’s something oddly comforting about being in a neighborhood where actual Londoners work and live, not just tourists taking photos of red buses.

The rooms themselves – well, they’re hostel rooms, so don’t expect luxury, but they’re clean and thoughtfully designed. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly shocked me because I’ve stayed in expensive hotels with worse mattresses. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone was thinking about real travelers: proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, and storage that actually makes sense. The common areas get busy in the evenings, especially during summer, but there’s this nice energy without being overwhelming. The staff genuinely seem to enjoy helping people figure out the city, and I overheard them giving directions that were actually useful – not just the tourist trap recommendations you usually get. The whole place has this relaxed efficiency that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere that gets it, you know?
