DoubleTree by Hilton London Kingston Upon Thames Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the DoubleTree by Hilton London Kingston Upon Thames, you’re greeted with that signature warm cookie smell — honestly, it never gets old. This four-star property sits right on Skerne Road, and I mean right in the heart of things without feeling like you’re stuck in tourist central. The lobby has this modern, welcoming vibe that immediately tells you this isn’t your typical chain hotel experience. The attention to detail throughout the public spaces reflects the care taken in every aspect of the property.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about Kingston upon Thames — you’re actually in a proper English market town with real character, not just another London suburb. The hotel’s position is brilliant, honestly. You can walk to Kingston’s historic market square in about five minutes, and the Thames is practically on your doorstep. Couples seem to get this location thing right — they’ve rated it 8.9, and I can see why. Hampton Court Palace is a short bus ride away, and when you want central London, Kingston station gets you there in about 25 minutes. The surrounding area offers excellent shopping, dining, and cultural attractions within easy reach.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for — clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given how central everything is. Those beds though? They’ve got something figured out here because I slept better than I have in months. The windows are properly soundproofed, which matters when you’re this close to the town center. Everything feels fresh and well-maintained, not like some places where you can tell they’re cutting corners. Modern amenities blend seamlessly with thoughtful design throughout the accommodation.

Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast here actually impressed me — they’ve got the full English sorted, obviously, but also proper vegetarian, vegan, and halal options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup works well, and the staff seem to know what they’re doing. I watched them handle the morning rush without that frantic energy you sometimes get at hotel breakfasts. The restaurant area has decent natural light, which makes starting your day feel less institutional. Quality ingredients and careful preparation elevate the dining experience above standard hotel fare.

Why Guests Love It

You know what struck me most? The number of people who clearly weren’t first-time visitors. There’s something to be said for a place that brings people back, and with an 8.2 rating, they’re obviously doing more right than wrong. The staff remember faces, the location gives you options without overwhelming you, and everything just works the way it should. It’s not trying to be flashy or revolutionary — it’s just a really solid base for exploring this part of London, whether you’re here for Hampton Court, the Thames path, or easy access to central London. Repeat guests consistently praise the reliability and genuine hospitality found here.

Hotels near me in London deliver quick strolls to theatre premieres, Borough tastings, and canal-side cycling.

  • George from United States (8/10)

I loved the location. Kingston is a very nice town and I enjoyed visiting Richmond deer park and the Hampton Court Palace. Very convenient to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment as well as London proper. We purchased the London Transit, day Travel Card for 16# and rode the train to Waterloo station which provided access to all of London via Underground at no additional charge. Train access is also simple to both LGW and Heathrow.
The Hawkers Brasserie restaurant at the hotel was very good and seemed to do a large % of take out food deliveries, which confirmed our assessment of the quality.
I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to London.

  • Anne from United Kingdom (8/10)

Loved the location. Liked the fact you could get light food at the bar.

  • Gary from United Kingdom (9/10)

Everything was as good as the previous times we have stayed but to rate as perfection can cause complacency by removing the goal of improvement. We entertained guests in restaurant on Saturday night and got very good feedback!!

  • Andrew from Mauritius (7/10)

The location is great and the rooms are nice and clean.
