Honestly, when I first walked up to 44 Curzon Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – the entrance is pretty understated for Mayfair, which actually turned out to be refreshing. You’re literally a two-minute stroll from Berkeley Square (you know, the one from the song), and I mean, you can practically see the backs of the Ritz and Four Seasons from some windows, but without paying those eye-watering rates.

The thing about this Mansley property is that it feels more like a really well-appointed apartment building than a traditional hotel, which makes sense since they’re serviced apartments. My room had this proper kitchen setup – not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation – so I could actually grab stuff from the Waitrose on Curzon Street and cook breakfast instead of paying £25 for hotel eggs. The living spaces are genuinely spacious too, especially by London standards. I’m talking about room to actually unpack your suitcase and not live out of it for a week. The decor is sort of modern British without being stuffy – clean lines, muted colors, decent lighting that doesn’t make you look like a ghost in the bathroom mirror.

What really sold me on the place was the location knowledge you get just by staying there. The front desk folks actually live in London (shocking, I know) and pointed me toward this little gem of a pub called the Audley on Mount Street – tourists never find it, but it’s where locals grab a proper pint after work. You’re also weirdly close to everything without feeling like you’re in the thick of tourist chaos. Bond Street shopping is right there if that’s your thing, but you can also duck into these quiet residential streets behind the hotel where it actually feels peaceful. The noise level surprised me too – I was expecting typical London street sounds, but Curzon Street is mostly just black cabs and the occasional Bentley, not buses rumbling past at 6 AM.

I will say, don’t expect a big fancy lobby scene or a concierge in white gloves – this isn’t that kind of place. Check-in is pretty straightforward, almost business-like, which I actually preferred. The building itself has that classic London thing where the lift is tiny and takes forever, but honestly, it adds to the charm. Room service isn’t 24/7, but there’s a Tesco Express literally around the corner on Hertford Street that’s open late, plus you’ve got your own kitchen anyway. The whole setup just works better for stays longer than a night or two – I stayed five days and it felt like I had my own little London flat in one of the best postcodes in the city. For an 8.4 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.
