But you know what? This place actually nails that sweet spot between proper hotel comfort and feeling like you’re staying somewhere with real character.

The flats themselves are surprisingly spacious (which, let’s be real, is saying something for London), and whoever designed them actually thought about how people live, not just how things look in photos. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show – I mean, you can actually cook a decent meal, though honestly with Brick Lane’s curry houses literally around the corner, you might not want to. Speaking of location, you’re about a three-minute walk from Aldgate East tube, which sounds close but doesn’t feel touristy or crowded. More importantly, you’re close enough to walk to Borough Market on a Saturday morning without feeling like you need to plan an expedition, but far enough from the City’s weekend ghost-town vibe that there’s always something happening nearby. The building itself has this converted warehouse feel – original brick walls in some units, big windows that actually open (thank god), and you can hear the gentle hum of London life without feeling like you’re sleeping on the street.

What really won me over was the little stuff they get right. Check-in is straightforward, no weird keycards that stop working every other day, and the cleaning service actually cleans instead of just making beds and emptying bins. The neighborhood’s got proper character too – Toynbee Studios is right there if you’re into arts stuff, and Columbia Road flower market on Sundays is one of those London experiences that doesn’t feel completely overrun yet. Sure, it’s not the fanciest part of town, and sometimes you’ll hear delivery trucks early in the morning (comes with the territory in this part of Tower Hamlets), but that 7.1 rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without trying to be something it’s not. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel like I was actually staying in London rather than some generic hotel bubble that could be anywhere.
