The Crown & Greyhound by Innkeeper’s Collection Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Crown & Greyhound by Innkeeper’s Collection, you immediately get that feeling this place has stories to tell. It’s one of those classic English pubs-turned-hotels that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely comfortable at the same time. The building itself sits right in the heart of Dulwich Village, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a more charming spot in South London. This four-star property has that perfect balance — refined enough that you feel special staying here, but relaxed enough that you’re not worried about spilling something on the furniture.
Location & Village Life
You know what’s brilliant about Dulwich? It feels like you’ve escaped London without actually leaving it. The village green is literally right outside, and there’s something quite magical about having your morning coffee while watching locals walk their dogs past the old oak trees. Couples absolutely love it here — and I can see why, especially for weekend getaways. The free parking is actually a massive bonus because, let’s be honest, finding parking in London usually costs a fortune and involves at least three wrong turns down one-way streets.
The Room Experience
I’ll tell you what impressed me most — the beds are genuinely fantastic. You know how hotels sometimes promise comfort but deliver something that feels like sleeping on cardboard? Not here. The room I stayed in had this lovely mix of traditional English charm with modern touches that actually work. The windows looked out over the village, and there’s something quite soothing about falling asleep to the sound of absolutely nothing happening outside. The bathrooms are well-appointed too, though not huge — but everything you need is there and it’s all quality stuff.
Breakfast & Dining
The full English breakfast here is proper — none of that sad continental buffet nonsense. They do a vegetarian version too, which is thoughtful since not everyone wants black pudding first thing in the morning (though I actually quite like it). The restaurant downstairs maintains that cozy pub atmosphere, and the staff seem to genuinely enjoy working here, which always makes a difference. I mean, you can tell when people are just going through the motions versus when they actually care about your experience.
Why Guests Love It
There’s clearly something special happening here because people keep coming back — more so than at most hotels, apparently. I think it’s the combination of feeling like you’re staying somewhere with real character while still getting modern comfort and service. The location rating speaks for itself, especially if you want to explore South London’s quieter side but still have easy access to central London when you need it. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back to your room at the end of the day, rather than just seeing it as somewhere to crash.
Hotels near me in London deliver quick strolls to theatre premieres, Borough tastings, and canal-side cycling.

The staff was amazing for the hotel and the pub! We liked the location in Dulwich outside central London. More of a local vibe but with all the necessities. Room has plenty of space and the bathroom was well appointed too. Food and drinks at the pub were superb too! Would very much stay here again if we are in London on another trip.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was a good size and we especially appreciated the windows which shut out the noise from the road outside. The food in the pub downstairs was delicious and the overall atmosphere was lovely.

My wife and I are visitors from the US. We used to stay in more expensive hotels north of the Thames and accessible via London's subway system. But our daughter moved to Dulwich and there is no subway or US branded hotels where she lives. So we started staying at this hotel. The location is great for us. There are nice restaurants near the hotel. It is a 20 minute walk to our daughter's house via a beautiful park. It is a 20 minute walk to the Herne Hill light rail stop which connects with the East-West Elizabeth line at Farrington station. It is also a 20 minute walk to Dulwich North and a different light rail line which goes to the Tower of London Bridge area and a different subway stop. This area is not as congested as the areas north of the Thames where most tourists stay.

Wonderful location in Dulwich. We stayed for six nights. The room was very comfortable, great big bed and hot, hot water. All of the Bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were enormous and a great selection. Great atmosphere and the drink selection was extensive.

Location/Pub/Eve meal all great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Broken reading light and switch to control lights on my side of bed but when staff told, they had repaired that day.
