voco London Marylebone, an IHG Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to voco London Marylebone, an IHG Hotel on Old Marylebone Road, you immediately get that feeling of being right in the thick of things without the chaos. This four-star property sits perfectly between the tourist madness of Oxford Street and the quieter residential streets of Marylebone — honestly, it’s one of those spots where you feel like you’ve found London’s sweet spot. The building itself has that classic London hotel vibe, but there’s something refreshingly modern about the way they’ve approached the whole experience.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re literally a five-minute walk from Regent’s Park, which means morning jogs or evening strolls are actually doable. Baker Street tube station is close enough that you won’t be dragging your luggage for ages, and London becomes incredibly accessible from here. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about wandering through Marylebone Village’s boutique shops and cafés. You know what’s brilliant? You can walk to Oxford Street for shopping but retreat back to this quieter pocket when you need to breathe.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything worked properly — and I mean everything, which is rarer than you’d think in London hotels. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-comfortable, and the bathrooms feel spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything. I particularly appreciated the little touches like decent lighting for actually reading and enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the hairdryer.

Breakfast Worth Getting Up For

The breakfast situation here actually impressed me — they’ve clearly thought about the fact that people have different dietary needs and preferences. Whether you want a proper Full English or something lighter like the continental options, it’s all there. I was particularly surprised by how well they handle the vegan and gluten-free options (not just an afterthought), and the buffet setup means you can take your time deciding what you actually want to eat. The breakfast to go option is brilliant if you’re one of those people who’d rather grab something and explore the city early.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to this place is that balance between being central and being livable. You’re not fighting crowds every time you leave the hotel, but you can still walk to most of the things you actually want to see in London. The staff seem to understand that travelers want helpful information without being overwhelmed with tourist brochures, and there’s a genuine sense that they want you to enjoy your stay rather than just get through it. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in London rather than just visiting it — if that makes sense.

  • Kate from United Kingdom (8/10)

The front of the hotel looks very different to the photo. Much smaller. The staff were excellent and the room was clean. We had asked for twin beds as I was sharing with a friend and the hotel couldn't comply with this, so it was a little awkward. Room was quite small but well equipped. The area wasn't brilliant. For the price, I expected a bit more, but maybe I'm out of touch with London hotel prices.
